I’ve been testing and reviewing home gym equipment for a while now, and when I get asked about starting a home gym on a budget, I always say to keep it simple.
First, you want to make sure you don’t overspend until you’ve proven to yourself that you’re going to exercise consistently.
Lots of people buy expensive equipment that doesn’t get used.
And two, you want to find equipment that’s versatile and can be used for more than one thing.
This will save you space and money.
So here’s what I recommend you do to get a full-body workout for under $150.
Lower Body Equipment
The hamstrings are one of the most challenging muscle groups to train at home without a machine.
Well…
You don’t have to break the bank or get a clunky piece of equipment to get strong hammies.
With a Nordstick, you anchor your legs down and use your own body weight as resistance.
And trust me, this is not an easy exercise, so you’ll need resistance bands for regressions, or you can also use a yoga ball.
I’ll show you how to use these same resistance bands for the upper body later on…
To hit the quads, you can pick up an OmniStrap and attach a dumbbell to it.
Find a chair or bench and extend your leg against the dumbbell’s resistance.
If you don’t have a dumbbell, you can pick one up for cheap on Facebook marketplace.
Upper Body Equipment
As far as versatility goes, it’s hard to beat a set of resistance bands.
You can strap them down to anything and use them for several upper-body muscle groups (and lower-body).
The OmniBands can be easily anchored down to a door or pull-up bar for chest presses, bicep curls, tricep extensions, shoulder presses, back rows, and more.
Core
I covered the upper and lower body, but we can’t forget about your core.
One of the easiest ways to blast your abdominals and lower back is with a yoga ball.
Anchor your legs down with a Nordstick, sit on the yoga ball, and get crunching.
Now turn upside down and do some lower back extensions to strengthen your lower back and glutes.
Bundle & Save
All the products I mentioned above cost less than $50 each, but you get them even cheaper by getting them in a bundle.
For $125, you can get started with equipment that doesn’t take up a lot of space and gives you a full-body workout.
You don’t have to break the bank to build a home gym.
Start with versatile equipment that’s affordable and durable.
